1930 PRIDE OF JUDEA CENSUS ALPHABETIZED AND LISTED WITH AGE

The 1930 census provides us with considerable information about the Pride of Judea Orphan Home, which was still the institution’s name. For starters, among the 215 residents, we note some very familiar names like those of the Snyder sisters, the Zalinsky and Lebowich brothers, Miltie Schneider, Danny Goodman and the Shapiro siblings-Bernie, Pearl and Eddie. We then recognize boys’ and girls’ names that we haven’t seen or heard about in decades.  Finally, we tally up the various census New Jersey and Connecticut together had about 16, with several others from Alabama, Ohio, Georgia, Pennsylvania and Michigan. Foreign born included two from both Russia and Palestine and one from both Poland and Romania.
